My wife and I stayed at the hotel across the street from Trattoria Dario, so this place made for a really convenient dinner option during our Vero Beach vacation. The restaurant has distinct areas, each with a different ambiance. The dining room is very intimate and comfortable - good for small groups or couples to converse over a meal; the bar/patio area is a bit more energetic and attracts a younger segment of customers. The entire staff at Trattoria Dario is very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door. Our waiter was especially personable and knew the menu like the back of his hand. My wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan and I had the Pappardelle Bolognese - which consisted of a marinara sauce with veal and fennel sausage tossed with ribbons of pasta. Both entrees were very good and very authentic! After dinner, we ordered a double chocolate mint souffle with a marshmallow filling that was unlike any dessert I had before. It was very good! Whether you're staying nearby or just a short drive away, I would recommend stopping by this place for a good dining experience!

One of my favorite restaurants. The steak was actually cooked medium rare and was delicious. Cost is very reasonable, service is impeccable, and Dario is a great owner and proprietor. After last nights dinner at Mulligans, my faith has been restored in the fantastic food in Vero Beach.

How do I say this without being too over the top. The drinks here were excellent. I had a scotch on the rocks and it was served perfectly. In fact just as I finished it the bartender asked if I would like a second. Perfect timing. The decor is very nice, the bruchetta was wonderful and if you are interested in checking it out...fear not. It will be fine.

I don't know where the negative reviewers were eating, but it wasn't at the same Dario's where we dined last evening. We have dined at most of the better Vero Beach restaurants, and Dario's is in the top 5. We started with oysters Rockefeller which were some of the best I have ever had. This was followed by chilled Mellon soup; very flavorful and refreshing on a warm evening. We each had fish entrees; grouper Oscar, and Mediterranean Sea bass. The portions were large, perhaps too large, and the presentation, accompaniments, and flavors were wonderful. Two minor items keep this review from 5 stars: the fish was a little overlooked for our preference, and regular cheesecake was substituted for the ricotta cheesecake we ordered. Both issues were minor, and did not detract from the otherwise wonderful dinner. We will make Dario's a regular dining spot when in town.

Sunday night 7:30 reservation for 5. Lots of parking in private lot. Arrived about 5 min early, nobody in reception. Apparent husband wife team appeared n seated us in the far corner. Crowded and loud, dress is a mix of casual and smart casual, some shorts on men. Ordered a bottle of wine, calamari and carpaccio for the table. Waitress opened the wine and took dinner order. Lasagna, Med Pasta, meatballs and cannelloni. Appetizers appeared quickly and were yummy, main course took over 40 mins to arrive however. We were told there was a large party that over whelmed the kitchen but we only saw a party of 8. We drank all the wine but main course didn't appear til 9:10, after the place was half empty. I ordered a pasta to go (for my daughter at home) and a wine by the glass but the wine didn't get to me before I was finished w my meal. Food was good, service was attentive, dunno what to say about the kitchen. $269 for 6 entrees with wine before tip.

Having been in Vero for the past 8 years we love trying new restaurants and supporting the community. In the mood for Italian we decided to give Dario a try. At 7pm the place was about 50pct full but this Is off season. The staff was nice and friendly and the place was very nice inside and out. We started with the soup which was very good, salty but tasty. From there our experience went down hill. We ordered 2 chicken dishes that are pretty standard for most restaurants. Food came out in short order and looked good but both the Marsala and saltimbocca were both served in the same dark brown gravy that tasted just like store bought beef gravy. Mash potatoes had something in it that made them inedible. The asparagus however was cooked well. Prices were average for the food, wine by the bottle was well over priced but you can bring your own for a $20 corking fee. This restaurant is touted as authentic Italian food not much to our taste.

This restaurant has the best Italian food in Vero Beach! The new chef who came onboard in January is amazing. If you don't eat here it is your loss!

Supposed to be early bird special; 'Prices high, portions small, food just OK. Someone at our table commented to the waiter about the size of the portions, he said you should have ordered from the reqular menu.

If you want real Italian pasta cooked al-dente, then don't waste your time and money at this restaurant. Took my wife here for her bday, we ordered our pasta al-dente, however, both pasta dishes came out mushy. Needless to mention that we were both disappointed and a waste of our money. Pricing at this restaurant is at the higher end of the scale, at these prices we expected the pasta to be cooked to our liking, oh well scratch Dario's off of our list of local restaurants. Ambiance is worth 4 stars. Location is 4 stars Plenty of parking.

I second Diane D (my mom). Diana, the owner, was so sweet to take care of our son while we ate. They want to make the restaurant a family one and it certainly felt like that for us. The sea bass was delicious too! Highly recommend.

The wine was a lil over priced payee $10 for a glass when the whole bottle cost $10. The food was good but not great... I which we can give quarter stars. So it would be 3.75. The eggplant parm had no tomatoe sauce. The angel hair was perfect. Calamari greasy but doable. The veal was greasy also could use a patdown on papertowel before serving. Tiramisu was great and owner was kind and service was good. Ambience is nice. Overall good experience.

One of the best and friendliest restaurants in Vero Beach. Dining is leisurely and the food wonderful. Craig at the bar has great drink concoctions that he invents with fresh herbs he grows on the patio.

Had a delicious meal there with a family group. Service was absolutely flawless. Food was mostly delicious but the fried calamari were not to our liking. The friendly owner came in to check on us. Desserts were lovely along with properly made espresso. Am eager to go back.

I'd give it 2.5 stars. Very nice owners. Nice ambiance. But the food is bland. Craig the bartender is great. Parking is very limited with most "compact" spots- very inconvenient. Overpriced for mediocre food. We won't be returning.

Love this local and family owned restaurant! The owner waited on us and it was excellent! The restaurant was packed but service didn't waver! Ordered the di Caprino and the Salad Pizza which was excellent! We will definitely visit when we are back in Vero Beach!

Nice surprise for us New Yorkers to find this tucked away place with great food and no maddening crowds. The outdoor seating is lovely. (Indoor is more like a bar and diner). Everything we ordered was done well and right: fried calamari, beet salad, pompano, lasagna, tiramisu and cassata (authentic and not overly sweet). All terrific. Entrees took a little long, but other than that, bravo! We'd go back.

Great restaurant! The food is consistently good, great ambience and very lively bar. The owners are extremely inviting you feel like you are part of the family. Bartenders Craig, Jeff and Kim are also very attentive. We like sitting in the bar area when it is just me and my husband there is a lot going on and a fun place to eat and hang out. If you want a more intimate dining experience sit in the main dining room. The booths are quiet and cozy. It's hard to say what my favorite dinner is they are all so good. All the fish dinners are very good and fresh. The mussels are great!

Ordered the carpaccio and my friend ordered the calamari both of which were awful. The carpaccio came with about 6 pieces of 2 inch strips of something that looked like it had been sitting on the counter for days. The arugula in the middle of the plate was the only redeeming factor. Overall, hideous. laughable to even remotely call this classic dish carpaccio. The calamari was bland, no flavor whatsoever. Breaded and hardly cooked, limp. The marinara tasted as if it was out of a jar. Terrible. Ordered the Tiramisu which was good. Would not bother with this restaurant - will not go back. Nice bartender, Chris.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
